About the Journal

Nordic Research in Music Education is an international peer-reviewed open access journal established by the Nordic Network of Music Education Research and owned by the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH). The journal publishes original, high-quality and timely articles that advance and debate research in all areas of music education. The articles represent a wide range of empirical, theoretical, philosophical and methodological approaches. The journal also welcomes studies that critically examine the nature and use of research in music education, as well as studies with a cross-disciplinary or multi-disciplinary approach.

It welcomes both traditional and innovative formats, and its online format supports the publication of works that include video, audio or interactive data. The journal also accepts book reviews and shorter commentaries on current themes.

The journal publishes original work not under consideration or previously published elsewhere. Articles based on PhD monographs may be submitted, provided they have not been previously published. Although the primary language of the journal is English, it also provides a forum for publication in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish.

All research articles are subject to double-blind peer review. Only manuscripts of sufficient quality that fall within the scope of the journal and adhere to its guidelines will be considered for review.

This journal is published open access (license CC BY 4.0) and is therefore free for anybody to read and download, and to copy and disseminate. Articles accepted for publication incur a publishing fee charged to authors’ affiliated institutions.
